Numb

I had a normal, knitting-related post ready for today, but it's going to have to wait.

Friends, my country did a profoundly stupid, hateful, and short-sighted thing yesterday. I'm in shock, I am sick, and I don't know how to process any of this. I am afraid for myself, for my own health and well-being, and I am afraid for my friends, and I am afraid for everyone else in this country whose lives and safety have been or will be affected by this.

I don't have words right now. This is not the country that I believe in.

I love you all. Hold each other. Take care of each other. Find beauty and goodness in small things. We need our communities and chosen families now more than ever. Find someone who's hurting and scared today and let them know that you love them, that you will stand by them and help them in this crazy world we all woke up in.

Give freely. Love deeply.

  1. We need more love in the world. I'm going to combat the fear and turn my own efforts toward love, kindness, patience and understanding. We will get through this and we'll be stronger!

  2. I am shocked over these results. I'm afraid for the future but on the bright side we aren't helpless. We can get on our representives for every measure.
Hopefully we learn and do better in the future.
    Shocked.

I feel the same. Thank you for breaking the totally weird knit world silence on this. This is NOT a time to be silence. They are caring more for their sales than for what is right.
Anyway. I send you and all of us who voted for sanity, love and light. hugs.

  4. Hugs and love. We might not understand what happened or how, but we can get through this together.

  5. It's absolutely shocking, and between this and Brexit, it's clear that UK and America are showing signs of a huge problem. Worse, the ideology of hate spreads so quickly- just here in Toronto there were reports of posters going up to try to draw attention of white people to direct them to some white supremacy websites. Clearly Trump's election is just the thing to embolden white supremacists into trying to spread their hate in wider, more public ways. Makes my skin crawl.
